With a laser, at the Quittie Hollow workshop in Annville. I run every pumpkin through the machine myself. That’s why the lines are crisp enough to hold a script name or a logo, which isn’t something you can get with a knife.

Four to six weeks. It’s real produce, so weather and care matter. The engraving marks the surface of the pumpkin instead of cutting through it, so the pumpkin stays whole and holds its shape far longer than a carved jack-o-lantern, which starts collapsing after a week or two. It arrives bright, and over the weeks the engraved lines darken a little, the way any pumpkin does. Keep it off dirt, grass, and mulch and out of direct sun and you get the long end of that range.

A carved jack-o-lantern is cut all the way through, which is why it starts caving in within about a week and a half. Engraving only marks the surface, so the pumpkin keeps its skin, keeps its shape, and keeps its lettering all fall.

Three sizes, and the packages mix them.

• Carver, 10 to 14 inches across. What you picture when you buy a pumpkin, and the size we engrave.
• Field tripper, about a third the size of a carver.
• Wee-B-Little, about 3 inches across. Palm size.

The Signature Porch is twelve pumpkins and a mum: three of each size, plus three heirlooms. The Harvest is twenty-four pieces, adding white pumpkins, gourds, a straw bale and more mums. The Estate is fifty-two, built around six carvers and eight of each smaller size.

Delivery is free in our own valley, and $25 or $50 depending on how far out you are after that, with setup included on a porch display. Delivery is free in Annville, Campbelltown, Cleona, Cornwall, Fort Indiantown Gap, Hershey, Hummelstown, Jonestown, Lebanon, Linglestown, Mount Gretna, Palmyra and Timber Hills, though orders under $100 come with a minimum $25 delivery fee, even there. It’s $25 in Highspire, Manheim, Middletown, Mount Joy and Steelton. It’s $50 in Camp Hill, Enola, Mechanicsburg, Myerstown, Lititz and Marietta. Harrisburg and Penbrook land at $25 or $50 depending on your ZIP code. Everywhere outside those three rings, we price delivery by quote instead of turning you away. Weeks run September through the middle of November. You pick your week when you order. Each week holds a limited number of orders, and the closer a week is, the likelier it is that we’ve sold out.

No. We deliver and arrange everything on your porch or by your door, so you don’t need to be there. Leave a note at checkout if you want it placed somewhere specific.

We ring the doorbell twice. If nobody answers, we text you to let you know we’re there and we start the setup. When your porch is finished we send you a note so you know it’s done and ready to look at.

A family name, a house number, a monogram, a date, a pet name. Up to 3 lines, and up to 25 characters a line depending on the lettering style. If you want something more involved, email us before you order and we’ll respond within a few hours to let you know if we can do it.

A pumpkin is produce, so shade and airflow are what buy you the extra weeks. Keep it off dirt, grass, and mulch on a step or a bale, out of direct afternoon sun and off hot concrete, with a little air around it. It arrives bright and the engraving darkens a touch over the weeks; that’s a pumpkin doing what pumpkins do. The care guide has the rest.

Every pumpkin is treated with an all-natural deterrent before it leaves the workshop. Animals still do what animals do, so if you know you have a hungry crew in the yard, a dusting of cayenne around the base helps, and so does keeping the pumpkin up by the door rather than out on the walk.

Yes. A second engraved pumpkin is $49 on its own, or $35 added to an order you’re already placing. An engraved field tripper with one name on it is $15 each. A mum, pumpkin, and gourd cluster is $29, a straw bale is $25, and a mum on its own is $19.

If you want us to. Season-end removal is $75 on any display package. We come back after the season and clear the whole thing off your porch. It goes to a local farm to be eaten by the animals.
